Boston-based U.S cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex has announced it will be launching its own official mobile app to iOS and Android. However, it appears trading will only be available on iOS devices initially. Whether this will be extended to Android later on is unverified
Poloniex supports trading in almost 70 digital assets but currently does not supporting trading against fiat currency. Trading pairs exist against popular coins such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP), as well as stablecoin USDT.
Although some Poloniex trading apps already exist from third-party suppliers such as Blockfolio, this is the first official app and should provide better reliability and customer trust.
The blog post notes that users will need to generate an API key on the desktop site in order to trade on the app. Users will also be able to create price alerts, view real-time charts and create lists of their favourite assets.
The Goldman Sachs-backed finance company Circle bought Poloniex in February this year reportedly for $400 million. The exchange also met some criticism in May this year when it was forced to collect Know-Your-Customer (KYC) information from its users. Previously it had said this would not be required.
