Voyager Digital, a Canadian cryptocurrency asset broker, has partnered with a U.S.-based supplier of trading desk technology to make digital asset trading available on its platforms.
Sterling Trading Tech (SST) is headquartered in Chicago and develops bespoke network and trading services to financial institutions around the world. The company provides order routing and management solutions to professional traders and hedge funds for the trading of equities, futures, and options.
Rising demand for crypto services
The collaboration with Voyager Digital means SST will now be able to integrate digital asset technology into their systems to support the trading of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Voyager’s services will be able to provide SST with advanced cryptocurrency data and statistics from multiple exchanges worldwide, giving it the best possible buy and sell prices for their customers.
Voyager co-founder and CEO, Steve Ehrlich, spoke of the rising demand for crypto services and how his firm can help STT reduce costs involved with developing an in-house solution to cryptocurrency trading.
“Demand continues to rise for digital assets and there is a clear desire by institutions to participate in and offer their clients access to this emerging asset class,” he said.
In a press release announcing the partnership, SST Director of Business DEvelopment, Andrew Actman, said: “With this partnership, we are thrilled to deliver sophisticated digital asset trading capabilities to the traders on our platforms.”
A powerful partnership
With 100 clients spread over 30 countries worldwide and a system that processes 5% of daily U.S. equity volume, SST is well placed to provide digital asset trading to a global user base. Its collaboration with Voyager Digital, a company poised to take on no-fee crypto trading market leader Robinhood, promises to provide a huge boost of institutional investment into the crypto market.
Voyager Digital recently launched an institutional-grade open architecture platform called Voyager Institutional, designed to offer investors additional execution and data trading capabilities. With backing from the co-founder of taxi-hailing app Uber, it currently hosts one of the best commission-free crypto trading platforms available, supporting 18 major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), EOS, Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) and Ripple (XRP).
