Jack Dorsey Still Believes In Bitcoin (BTC)

While there are still many high-profile individuals in the finance sector that are embracing blockchain, they are not so welcoming to Bitcoin (BTC) as a digital currency. However, on the tech side of things, there seems to be more optimism. Jack Dorsey is one of the individuals that apparently still believes in Bitcoin.

The 42 year-old entrepreneur is easily one of the most important individuals in the tech space, and is the billionaire CEO of Twitter, which boasts around 300 million monthly active users.

About The Comments

The comments were made on the Joe Rogan Podcast, one of the most popular podcasts in the world. Rogan has been bringing up blockchain and Bitcoin more often on his platform, which has millions of users worldwide tune into each episode. The comments about Bitcoin specifically were only made in the last ten minutes of the interview. The interview already has around 250,000 views in less than 24 hours.

Jack Dorsey is the CEO of Square, which is a financial services and payment platform that has been gaining traction over the past few years. Rogan noted that the platform allows users to buy and sell Bitcoin, and asked Dorsey to elaborate on why the company decided to make this decision. Dorsey stated that he is currently not considering adding new cryptocurrencies, but stated that he believes the “Internet will have a native currency. I don’t know if it’s Bitcoin…I think it will be.”

More Information

Dorsey is a big fan of Bitcoin because it was “born on the Internet, developed on the Internet, tested on the Internet…it is of the Internet.” Dorsey seemed to indicate that Bitcoin was much more battle-tested than many other newer cryptocurrencies, which could be why he believes it is ultimately more important.

This actually isn’t the first time that Dorsey has praised Bitcoin or expressed this sentiment. He made similar comments last year, as well. He also used Rogan’s platform to proudly proclaim that Square was the first publicly-traded company to “talk to the SEC about Bitcoin.”
