Justin Sun of Tron (TRX) Joins ALS Campaign, Donates $250,000

The fact that the cryptocurrency markets are so bearish doesn’t make for many inspiring headlines these days, as many blockchain startups and cryptocurrency projects are trying to reposition, restructure, and reorganize. However, it’s important to remember that there are still individuals that have made a massive amount of wealth thanks to the cryptocurrency sector.

 

One of those individuals is Justin Sun, the founder of Tron. While it is unclear of the exact amount, he certainly has a significant amount of TRX tokens. Tron currently has a market capitalization of over $1.6 billion. Sun just announced that he was donating $250,000 to the ALS Foundation, directing some of his wealth to a charitable cause.

About The Campaign

This is part of the “Voice Your Love” campaign. Many individuals who have ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) often end up losing their voice as a result. The idea is that these individuals cannot vocally express their love for those close to them, and urges those who can to do so in a video. For those that are unaware, ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects not only the brain, but the spinal cord, as well. It is estimated that at any give time, somewhere around 450,000 individuals are living with ALS around the world.

The campaign is timed around Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated on February 14th in countries all around the world. Donations can be made at the official “Voice Your Love” website, which can be found at www.voiceyourlove.org.

 

Sun and Celebrities

Sun tweeted out about his donation, tagging three others in hopes that the donations can continue. The three individuals he tagged were Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance and one of the most well-known cryptocurrency influencers in the world, Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, and movie star Courtney Cox. Another movie star, Renee Zellweger, has also expressed support for the campaign.

TRON is actually going to use blockchain in order to track the donations, for increased transparency with regards to the charity sector. Binance Charity Foundation has also agreed to donate $150,000 to the cause.
