Popular online remittance solution and trading app TransferGo has decided to start listing cryptocurrencies on both its desktop and mobile platforms.
The London fintech company is reportedly the first remittance service to support crypto trading, with listings for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC).
Founder and CEO Daumantas Dvilinskas said the decision was due to a strong desire by customers to be able to trade digital assets.
TransferGo is available for both Android and iOS in seven different languages and completes over a million transfers per year to 47 countries globally. Other than the new crypto listings it also features 22 fiat currencies available for transfer. The platform received 4,000 new account registrations within the first few hours of adding the cryptocurrency listings, increasing its already 600,000 strong customer base.
Migrant workers from developing countries use the service to send over $450 billion worth of various currencies home to their families every year. In 2017 the company took onboard ex-PayPal CEO Renier Lemmens as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
The news follows last weeks announcement by new crypto startup, Voyager, that it will be offering fee-free cryptocurrency trading for up to 15 digital assets. The company is headed up by ex-CEO of Lightspeed Financial, Stephen Ehrlich, and Uber co-founder Oscar Salazar.
